YouTube’s humourless hack

YouTube was undergoing some routine maintenance this afternoon (perhaps in anticipation of a wealth of visitors looking to waste Friday time at work in North America). However, rather than simply putting up a notice to that effect, the site decided to try a little humour. That promptly backfired, forcing them to alter their message slightly:

Frankly, I think YouTube shold have realised that the vast majority of its (apparently copyright-angostic) users probably don’t get the whole All your base are belong to us schtick. After all, it is a bit 2001.
