Share A Secret Reviewed

Share A Secret Reviewed looks at the weekly Share A Secret column in Australia's biggest-selling magazine, Woman's Day. We at Gusworld love it, and we hope you will too. We don't give away the plot (that would be unfair and a possible breach of copyright); we just tell you what the headline is and describe the stunning artwork that goes with it.

Woman's Day dated July 29th, 1996

I BETRAYED MY FIANCE WITH HIS BEST MATE

Convinced he'd been unfaithful, she refused to listen to reason and instead set out to get even - then things got out of hand

Woman's Day just isn't trying hard enough. A much better headline for this story would have been "I SCREWED MY MAN'S BEST FRIEND WHILE HE LAY DYING", which is more or less what the plot is. The moral majority will also be pleased to learn that he didn't actually die and dumped the bitch eventually.

The wilful misinterpretation of the story to make a good picture thankfully continues unabated. This week its's a bloke, carrying a fetching handbag on one arm and with a comatose female slung over his other shoulder, hailing a taxi. He's in a red shirt, continuing a colour theme that's plagued the page for some weeks now. She, on the other hand, is wearing white, which is pretty odd on the face of it. It's possible, though, that the letter A is emblazoned in brilliant scarlet on her concealed forehead.
