Single Of The Week
Single Of The Week is where I review a single I'm particularly enamoured of at the moment. It might be a brand spanking new release, or a classic from decades past that I just feel like going on about.

Can't Get Enough Of Your Love
Kim Wilde

'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love' is well and truly the great lost Kim Wilde single. It comes from her 1990 album Love Moves, which inexplicably didn't do terribly well, despite coming after Kim's second career high with the Close album. However, none of the tracks from the album was more than a minor hit, and when MCA (Kim's label at the time) was assembling her Singles Collection in the mid-1990s, it skipped the album entirely.

Even if MCA had chosen to include a track from Love Moves, 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love' wouldn't have been a likely selection, since it wasn't even released in the UK as a single. It did get released in a number of European countries and Australia, but the only place where it really seems to have made an impact was France, where it was included on a bonus disc with the Singles Collection. I remember the video getting a couple of shows on Countdown Revolution, but apart from that it passed without notice.

Notwithstanding that it shares a title (but not much else) with a Barry White song, I've never been able to understand why a song as catchy as this wasn't a hit. It's certainly the equal of the songs she did manage a hit with in the 1990s, such as 'Love Is Holy' and her cover of 'If I Can't Have You'. One of these days I'll have to get round to tracking down the CD single.
