PLOT SUMMARY: Don't believe the blurb. We know from the first chapter that Amanda is not Amanda. Stephanie Rendall, a "bad girl" who has slept with men, kills her in Porterville and assumes her identity. Stupidly, she keeps returning to the grave to check Amanda hasn't escaped, where she is sprung by Richard Tibbs, who she also kills. Eventually, Elizabeth Henley realises "Amanda" is a killer, and helps the police bust her. BODY COUNT: 2 MOST AMUSING DEATH: "Richard looked intently, and when he saw the inert body beneath the dirt and pine needles his stomach began to rumble. When the rock was smashed against his head he fell forward into the shallow void of Amanda's grave."
MOST EMBARRASSING DIALOGUE: "It was sad. She died of meningitis when she was only five years old." MOST EMBARRASSING OUTFIT: None of note EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Organising the school prom UNREALISTIC POLICE BEHAVIOUR: None, really
